RETRAINING HABIT APPLIANCE (Fixed)
The Bluegrass habit appliance was intended for children whose thumb-sucking habit is affecting the mixed or permanent dentition. Patients are instructed to “turn the roller” instead of sucking their thumb. The habit normally disappears after approximately eight weeks, but the appliance is often left in for six months to ensure there is no habit relapse.
