Indirect Composite Restorative System

Cristobal+ … A Proven Alternative

DENTSPLY Ceramco announces the introduction of the Cristobal+ indirect composite system, a clinically proven alternative to PFM and all-ceramic restorations. Dr. Karl Leinfelder, DDS, MS of Biomaterials Research, says, "Based upon a 6-year clinical evaluation, Cristobal+ is clinically proven for outstanding wear and its natural esthetics defy detection in the mouth!"

Cristobal+ is indicated for 3-unit metal-free/ fiber-free bridges through the second premolar, single unit crowns through the first molar, inlays, onlays, veneers, implants bonded to metal, and all types of fused-to-metal restorations.

Exceptional esthetics. Dentistry and photography by Dr. Ross Nash, Charlotte, NC.

Testing on various composites by Dr. S. Suzuki at the University of Alabama at Birmingham proved generalized wear of Cristobal+ was less than half that of the nearest competitor at 1.6 microns after 100,000 cycles using a three-body wear test.

And in measuring physical properties, Dr. Suzuki found Cristobal+ to be higher in flexural strength and flexural modulus than its competitors

For those who use composites bonded to metal, Cristobal+ more than exceeds ISO minimum requirements when bonded to either precious or non-precious metals, without the use of mechanical retention.

Clinical success since 1993 has proven Cristobal+ to be a very long lasting restorative material. DENTSPLY Ceramco has added a dynamic post curing polymerization process that cures quickly, and creates superior strength, hardness, and wear. The non-porous, biocompatible surface of Cristobal+ means superior chair-side polish-ability that’s virtually impermeable to microorganisms. Because Cristobal+ is mechanically polished as opposed to glazed, the finish will not wear off. The unique Cristobal+ formula is highly fracture-resistant and shock-absorbent with ideal rebounding characteristics so it is ideal for use with implant cases.

Leinfelder also reports, "Cristobal+ is characterized by excellent surface texture and brilliance. In a review of restorations between 3 and 4 years old, including bridges, veneers and overlays, there was no clinical evidence of wear. In addition, Cristobal+ exhibits an excellent relationship with gingival tissue."

Cristobal+ restorations are remarkably strong and maintain their natural gloss and translucency for years. Dental technician: Alain Fournet, Paris, France.

Excellent shade match and stability, high biocompatibility, lasting natural gloss, and translucency and conservative tooth preparation. Dentistry and photography by Dr. Steven Kurdziolek, Olney, MD.

Cristobal+ offers a patented metal primer system for use on bonded-to-metal restorations. This unique process has proven long-term clinical success with CFM – composite-fused-to-metal restorations. A 100% success rate can be reported for all single-unit CFM crowns and a 97.6% success rate for CFM bridges placed over the past 4 years.* (data on file). And you can feel confident you’re using a product with long-term clinical success bonded-to-metal.

Cristobal+ restorations require a simple clinical protocol. Preparation guidelines require minimal reduction and the use of new bonding agents such as Calibra by DENTSPLY Caulk (Milford, DE) significantly reduce the incidence of sensitivity. Doctors report clean-up is fast and easy and the chair-side polish-ability is an outstanding timesaver. For the patient, Cristobal+ means excellent shade match and stability, conservative tooth preparation, lasting natural gloss and translucency and high biocompatibility.
