TAP^® 1 and TAP^® 2

The patented TAP^® (Thornton Adjustable Positioner) adjustable mandibular advancement appliance incrementally advances the mandible by the rotation of the knob positioned between the lips.

1/4 mm incremental advancements help allow for comfortable accommodation to therapeutic repositioning of the mandible, likely helping to explain the unmatched compliance rate.

The lack of posterior contact reduces EMG activity of the masseter and temporalis muscles.  The musculature is  allowed to seek preferred positioning without the influence of arbitrary occlusal plane.
