BLOCKING HABIT APPLIANCE WITH CAGE (Fixed & Removable)
The closed-loop habit is a "blocking" appliance that not only makes it difficult for a patient to suck their thumb, it more importantly creates a barrier that eliminates suction. It also reduces tongue-thrusting issues.
At Johns Dental, we can also add a variety of habit related features to many of our fixed and removable appliances. Closed-loops were added to a removable Hawley (shown below) to discourage tongue thrusting or thumb sucking. We ask that an opposing model be included for all habit appliances.
